West East Courier Inc. was established on July 2007. The owners have a combined history of 35 years in the courier industry. They worked in all aspects of the industry such as management, trainers, drivers and dock hand. Their experiences lead them to having a greater understanding how the industry worked.
When they initially began this business, there was a common concern that the large courier companies did not concern themselves with smaller business. Their major interests were in large corporations and companies. The reason is volume. Corporation ships in larger volumes of freight. This way the courier companies were able to charge on $4 or $5 shipments. Small companies who ship at smaller volumes were not given a discount. They pay at full rate or close to full rate. It was noticed that accounts went unpaid, due to their high prices. They also placed a lot of surcharges to their customer’s bill, in order to generate larger revenue. The owners have been questioned and asked by the smaller companies who are just starting out or struggling to compete "Why it is more difficult for the large courier companies to be more flexible?”
They opened this business to show the smaller companies they were being heard and that someone cared. They showed that this service is affordable to all companies who are trying to make their business a success.
An example of this is when a package does not get to where it should be on time, the large courier company tells the customer "that’s okay it’s free” and not apologize for the inconvenience it placed upon the owner, who is trying to operate his business. The smaller courier company needs to have an on time reputation in order to compete. They can not afford to give that money away or shrug off the incident. We treat our customers like customers not numbers.
We have moved all sorts of freight. Everything from boxes to envelops. Picture frames, windows, art, sunrooms, furnaces and wines. We found there is a big need to move "fragile merchandise”, without it getting broken. Everything is handled by hand, not by a conveyor system. We have a 3ton cube truck and a fleet of vans, with more vehicles to come as we grow. We cover all of Ontario and certain parts of Western Quebec. We are a bonded company. We are also a member of the BNI Belleville chapter.
